Emergency Appeal

Coram’s Fields Emergency Appeal

In April 2020, we launched our first ever Emergency Appeal due to the devastating impact of Covid-19. The response from our community has been nothing short of phenomenal. People have been donating and fundraising to raise vital funds to help us through the crisis. On our JustGiving page over £67,500 has been raised so far by over 880 people, which has smashed our original target of £50,000.

To those that have already supported us, thank you so much!

Alongside our Emergency Appeal, we have been successful in securing emergency funding from The Garfield Weston Foundation, The National Lottery, Oak Foundation, St Andrew Holborn, Youth Music, Comic Relief, The Balcombe Charitable Trust and Camden Giving.

The emergency funds raised will make an incredible difference in helping us to be resilient through this crisis and provide vital support to children and young people.

But our future is still uncertain and we face significant financial losses this year. A large portion of our income is generated through hiring our football pitches and halls to local businesses. This crucial funding raised through our hires stopped overnight at the start of the lockdown in March. We were up and running again for a short while as restrictions began to lift, but the second lockdown has put our progress at risk again.

Worryingly, we will likely not have reach our previous income levels for a long time. We need your continued support.

From March – June, the closure of Coram’s Fields left thousands of children unable to access essential green space, with hundreds more missing out on the vital, and often life changing support provided through our services. Now that we’re open again, the current pandemic continues to have a devastating effect on our young people, many of whom were already at crisis point –  our young people need us more than ever before.

We’re doing everything we can to maintain support to the children, young people and families that need it most. We have adapted all of our onsite services to be delivered in Covid-19 safe ways, and we’re reaching out to our community directly through outreach programmes in high-risk communities, supporting the mental and physical health of local children and young people. We have also been providing free school meals to referred local families through the holidays.

Over the coming months, we will need the continued support of our local community. You can still support our Emergency Appeal here.

Carry Change

This Christmas, we are launching our Carry Change campaign. Children in our Out of School Club have been designing special artwork to feature on our exclusive Coram’s Fields tote bag. By starting a regular gift to Coram’s Fields, you will receive a tote bag and #CarryChange for local children and young people who rely on our facilities and services. You’ll help children to have the best possible start in life through this difficult time.

If we know your gift will arrive every month, we can plan for the future because we know we’ll have a steady income stream to rely on. This is crucial in such uncertain times.

The bags will be here mid-November, but you can bag your tote bag early by

Thank you to our fundraisers

Throughout our Appeal, incredible members of our community went the extra mile and ran, walked, painted, skipped, rowed, cycled and hosted raffles to raise essential funds for Coram’s Fields. We are truly grateful for everyone’s efforts, you are all superheroes!

Making a difference at a crucial time

“It was the most heartwarming experience today to see my kids on the sports pitch again after 5 months. Thanks to the generosity of the Coram’s Fields charity, my 3 children had a private Covid-secure session with a qualified sports coach at no cost to us and, despite spanning 7 years in age range, could enjoy learning the same sport together at the same time. Perhaps most touching of all was that the sports staff recognised my children and were delighted to see them: it shoes the genuineness of their care, the extent of their commitment, and how crucial the Corams Sports Programme is for building a sense of community and making children feel safe, confident, and happy during an unsettling time.” – Local parent

Reaching out with vital support

We’ve been taking our support for young people directly out into the community with a range of activities including sports, arts and music production, coupled with essential education and employment guidance, signposting and case work. Our outreach project works with young people who need us most, focusing on those who are vulnerable or living in high-risk areas.

Gardening with a difference

As part of our Youth Programme, our young volunteers have been transforming our green space alongside Lansdowne Terrace. I’m sure you’ll agree that they’ve made a huge difference already!

Our Youth Programme continues to help young people build brighter futures and overcome barriers which can prevent them from achieving all they are capable of. Our targeted work supporting young people at risk of crime, young women, and those not in education or training has had an essential and positive impact on young people’s lives through this unprecedented time.

About Coram’s Fields

Our park and playground is a vital open green space and safe place for children to run around, discover nature and most importantly, play.

In addition, Coram’s Fields provides dedicated services for children, young people and their families.

Our free Youth Programme delivers open access sessions from our Youth Centre and specialised targeted work for young people most in need. We provide a safe space off the streets and help young people, many of whom are already involved in, or at risk of anti-social behaviour and offending, to build brighter futures. Here, young people can gain qualifications and receive life-changing mentoring, coaching and employment support.

Our free Sports Programme provides completely free sports sessions to local children and young people, from football to fencing, helping to boost their physical and mental health and develop core life skills.

Our Under 5’s Drop-In, open five days a week,  provides a range of activity programmes for children under 5, whilst also acting as a community hub for parents, where they can socialise and develop life-long friendships.

Our Out of School Club and Nursery provide high-quality, affordable childcare for local families, with children benefitting from access to the full seven acres of green space that Coram’s Fields provides.

Help protect Coram’s Fields and support your local community.
